This conference will provide a platform for the discussion of issues pertaining to racism in Malaysia. Through this conference, we hope to breakdown the segregationist agenda with a view to reconcile the rift caused by racial segregation and promote thinking as ‘Malaysians’, while refraining from ethnic, religious or regional biases. Our reason for prioritising racism and segregation over other issues is premised on the belief that institutionalised racism and segregation is aimed at maintaining political and economic power in the hands of those promoting racial injustices. The conference will offer opportunities for the Malaysian community in Australia to engage in rich discussion between participants and speakers on the topic of racism, and energise thigroup to be more deeply involved with the issues affecting Malaysians. We hope that this program will lead to the spirit of One People, One Nation taking root amongst a larger segment of the Malaysian society.
